JavaScript is a scripting language that enables you to create dynamically updating content, control multimedia, animate images, and pretty much everything else. (Okay, not everything, but it is amazing what you can accomplish with a few lines of JavaScript code.)

Best of all, JavaScript is easy to learn. This tutorial will take you step by step through the fundamentals of JavaScript programming. You’ll learn how to use values, variables, operators, objects, loops, and conditionals to create interactive websites and web applications. And you’ll have a lot of fun along the way!

What is Javascript?

JavaScript is a programming language that helps you make websites interactive. For example, you can use JavaScript to create drop-down menus, or to display the current date and time.

JavaScript is not the same as Java. Java is a programming language that can be used to create stand-alone programs that run on your computer, whereas JavaScript is a scripting language that runs within another application, such as a web browser.

In order for Javascript to run within your web browser, it must be enabled. Here’s how to enable Javascript in some of the most popular browsers:

Google Chrome:
1. Open Chrome
2. Click the three dots in the top-right corner of the browser window
3. Select “Settings”
4. At the bottom of the page, click “Advanced”
5. In the “Privacy and security” section, click “Content settings”
6. Click “Javascript”
7. Make sure that the toggle switch next to “Allowed (recommended)” is turned on

Mozilla Firefox:
1. Open Firefox
2. Click the three lines in the top-right corner of the browser window
3. Select “Options”
4. In the left sidebar, select “Privacy & Security”

How to Turn on Javascript

Javascript is a web programming language that is used to make webpages interactive. It is what makes things like menus, forms, and buttons work on a website. Most websites need javascript to function properly. If you are having trouble viewing a website, it could be because javascript is disabled in your web browser. Here are instructions on how to turn on javascript in different browsers.

In your Browser

Most web browsers have JavaScript enabled by default. If you’re having trouble finding the setting to enable JavaScript, here are some instructions for how to do so in popular browsers:

Google Chrome
1. Open the Chrome menu.
2. Select Settings.
3. At the bottom of the page, clickShow advanced settings.
4. In the “Privacy” section, click Content settings.
5. Under “JavaScript,” select Do not allow any site to run JavaScript.
6. Click Done to save your changes; when you’re finished, you can close the Settings tab altogether.
7. Restart Chrome for your changes to take effect immediately; otherwise, they’ll take place the next time you restart your browser altogether.
8. You may now browse freely without JavaScript enabled; however, some websites may not work properly without it enabled, so keep that in mind before you make any permanent changes to your browser’s settings!

In your Operating System

There are a few different ways to enable JavaScript in your operating system. The process is different for each operating system, but generally, you can either modify your browser’s settings or update your browser.

In your Browser
If you’re using a web browser, you can enable JavaScript in your browser’s settings. The process is different for each browser, but generally, you can access the settings by clicking the menu icon in the top-right corner of the screen and selecting “Settings.” From there, look for the “Privacy” or “Security” section and find the JavaScript options.

Update Your Browser
If you’re using an outdated browser, you may not be able to enable JavaScript or take advantage of all its features. Consider updating your browser to the latest version for a better experience on sites that use JavaScript.

There are two things you need to do in order to turn on Javascript: first, enable it in your web browser, and second, ensure that any websites you visit support it. To enable Javascript in your browser, find the settings or preferences section and look for a checkbox or switch labelled “Enable Javascript” or something similar. Once you’ve found it, simply toggle it on. As for websites, most modern ones support Javascript, but if you’re having trouble accessing a particular site, it’s worth checking to see if it requires the use of Javascript.
